Marry Him!

I thought this was a really interesting article that advocated for settling for a good enough guy in your early thirties, instead of waiting for Mr. Right because the dynamics for women of looking for a mate may work against them if they wait too long. She's not saying this is the ideal, and she lays out some interesting reasoning for her case.

Bride Wars

I'm excited to see that Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway are slated to be in the movie Bride Wars, which is about two best friends who pick the same wedding date and fight over lots of things. Might be a terrible movie, but those two actresses are so likable and cute!

Battlestar Galactica Fans!

Celebrities profess their love for Battlestar Galactica, as well as recapping the premise of the series. Joss Whedon, and Jesse L. Martin and S. Epatha Merkerson of Law & Order, and Seth Green are among the celebrities. Just the opening sequence before the credits is pretty fun.

NBC Fall Schedule

NBC will unveil its fall schedule next week, way earlier than the usual mid-May upfronts. I don't think there will be too many surprises since pickup announcements have gone out for most shows already, but it will be interesting to see if this triggers more changes in how the networks do business.

Awesome Top Gear episodes

The tomcat has gotten me hooked on Top Gear, a hilarious British car show, and I am going to recommend a couple of episodes, since I heard that totoro finally watched an episode with EG and enjoyed it.

Totoro watched this episode about the smallest car ever made. The main host of the show drives this teeny car to work, and then proceeds to drive it into the BBC office building, to meetings, and other hijinks.

I also love the Africa challenge, where the three hosts each buy a used car for a tiny sum of money and proceed to drive across Africa. At one point, they drive across a salt flat that has a thin crust that will trap your car if you break through it, so they have to take as much weight out of the car as possible so they remove seats and all sorts of car parts in Part II. You'll have to locate the other parts of the episode if you want to see the rest, but it's worth it!

The Top Gear guys and the Top Gear Dog go on a road trip in a caravan, the British RV. They get stuck trying to turn around, Top Gear Dog gets sick, they break stuff and eventually accidentally set the caravan on fire!

The Top Gear hosts each buy a car and convert it into a boat - and then have a challenge to drive it to a little lake and then drive/sail/float it across the little lake. One of the hosts creates the Toyboata with a Toyota truck; another takes a VW van and makes it into a house boat. Also, the changes to the boats interfere with the drivability of the cars, so it's darn funny to watch them on the highway.

It wasn't Gilmore Girls Part II

Amy Sherman Palladino's new show The Return of Jezebel James has been pulled off the schedule after only airing three episodes. I watched the first two minutes of the pilot, and already it was kind of annoying. Sigh. I really do miss Lauren Graham. I hope she gets another show soon.

Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog

Courtesy of adia, Joss Whedon is currently working on a web-broadcasted musical about a superhero that is going to star Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris. I think Nathan is the hero and NPH is the villian, but that might be totally off. Anyway, it sounds like it's going to broken into a couple of episodes and will be called Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. And it sounds like Dollhouse a date for starting production. Woo!

BG online

The season premiere for the new seasons of Battlestar Galactica Streams will stream online for about half a day before it airs on TV. That's exciting, but I always forget about stuff like that and only figure out a show is back when it magically appears on Tivo. I would definitely miss a ton of stuff if it weren't for Tivo. The article above also has some fun tidbits from a panel discussion with the cast, including that the actor who plays the Chief found out [spoiler!] that he was a Cylon three months earlier than the other actors because he was at someone's house, found outlines for future episides, snuck into the bathroom to read them, and then had to pretend he didn't know afterwards...

90210

Huge gory details about the proposed 90210 spinoff to be written by Rob Thomas, who worked on Veronica Mars.

No Battlestar movies; but there will be Caprica!

It is unlikely that Battlestar Galactica will spin off into a movie series, but the good news is that the long-discussed prequel TV series Caprica has been greenlit for a TV movie, which could be picked up as a series. Apparently, there will be action/adventure, and more soap opera-ness.

New Dune

For the tomcat: Peter Berg, executive producer of the Friday Night Lights TV series, will be directing a new Dune movie. The tomcat is a sucker for all things Dune...

Chuck

A recap of the Chuck session at LA's Paley Festival. Some tidbits:

'McG on the difference between a geek and a nerd: "Joss Whedon is a geek, J.J. Abrams is a nerd." '

And a funny/odd anecdote that ABC thought the four-toed statue was too weird on Lost, and so that got changed to a six toed statue. And Damon Lindelof thought it was funny that any of this was too weird, relative to the entire concept of the show...

New Britney Video

Thanks to adia, here's a link to the latest Britney music video. The upside of an animated music video is that it does not require the artist to show up, or not be in court/under psychiatric hold at hospital etc. The upside is that there have been so many planted good-PR building stories in People magazine that I have some hope that a) Britney's life may be back on a good track or that b) we're back to the iron-clad image management which will at least keep the scary stuff from me, so I can go back to enjoying Britney stuff.

YouTube via TiVo. Available To Almost No One.

Here's a scary analysis of Tivo hardware sales for a recent two month period, as well as some evaluation of how many people really will have access to YouTube via their Tivo since it is only for Series3 boxes.

Project Peepway

Tee hee, Project Runway, enacted with the Peeps marshamallow candy. I am highly entertained by the thought, although I only watched a bit of the video with the sound off so I can't vouch for the actual humor of it.

Tivo news

TiVo Series 3 machines will soon allow you to watch YouTube on your TV

The Frog!

Apparently, the WB might be back, albeit only in reruns...Warner Brothers is rumored to be considering streaming WB content, like Gilmore Girls and Dawson's Creek! I'd love to be able to watch old DC eps on demand! It would take me back to the good old days.

Mad Money

Buried within an article about how stars are using magazine covers as a way to reemerge after scandal/rehab/whatever, is the producer of Mad Money talking about how Katie Holmes wasn't really his first choice for the role, Lindsay Lohan was, but that he figured Katie Holmes was more likely to actually show up on time for work.

Cutting Edge 3

Yes, your prayers have been answered - the third Cutting Edge movie installment will be airing next Friday as a made for TV movie on ABC Family. Look for a good Toe Pick scene!

Tim Gunn

This a great interview with Tim Gunn about Project Runway, the truth about Victorya on the show, and Tim Gunn's Guide to Style. It does have spoilers about who won Project Runway.

Bejeweled!

I am a huge fan of Bejeweled, the DS Lite and weddings, so I loved this marriage proposal, which the tomcat sent me the link to. It's awesome that the groom to be wrote his own bejeweled. And it's awesome that it didn't accidentally go into an infinite loops, which is what I would have done. Although I think it's easier to code a game when you don't have to program what it means to win or deal with the edge cases... But seriously, it would be awesome if the guy starting selling it - I'd buy it!

24 movie

There will be a two hour 24 TV movie to keep tide you over until the next season airs in 2009. I wonder if it will still be real time and the first two hours of the day that will continue with the next season, or if it will be two hours from some random day that occurs before the next season's day...

Oh no, TWOP!

Sad news. The founders of Television Without Pity are leaving the site. Looks like they must have signed a contract to stay for one year, and now they are out. Hopefully they made some money out of the deal, and will now go on to do other web things that I will get to enjoy. But I suspect that TWOP will never be the same and won't really have quite the same voice. Bummer.

XOXO Gossip Girl!

Gossip Girl will be back next season! And happily, Mischa Barton has clarified that NOOO, she won't be on GG, so our show is safe, at least from her. The sophomore slump could still attack Gossip Girl, but here's hoping that it keeps the magic for a while longer!

Jezebel James

Here's a profile of Amy Sherman-Palladino, which delves into a bit of the gossip around her and her allegedly rocky relationship with the studios she has worked with. It sounds like she might be a bit of an Aaron Sorkin, with tons of pages for scripts, which will never fit into the allotted episode time. The early buzz on the Jezebel James has been in a bit of a downward spiral and things are not looking good, but I'll still be watching when it airs later this month.

Walk off!

Here's a hiliarious clip of Tim Gunn and Christian Siriano having a walk off and then Heidi Klum giving Tim crap about his walk. Pretty entertaining.
