An interview with Michael from the Wire. Apparently, they are shooting the final season of the Wire starting next March, and hopefully the final season will be out in late 2007 or early 2008. There are a few hints on the season finale which airs this Sunday, but there aren't really spoilers.

It got picked up for the season, although it will be replaced during March by another show, the Black Donnellys.
