Ah, it's so great to be the same age as a bunch of the television writers - it means you get jokes just for you! For instance, the music on the last episode of the OC - Blind Melon's No Rain and Boyz II Men's End of the Road was straight out of high school. While my prom's theme was Walk on the Ocean (Toad the Wet Sprocket, heh), I believe one of the classes a year or two above me definitely made their theme End of the Road. I'm going to the iTunes store now to buy that song. I love it!
Also, last week's Lost had a funny bit about the game I Never. They made fun of it as a game people play in college, and that's definitely how I think of it. But it was a great way to learn things about two characters that they would never have been able to write into plausible dialog. It was pretty funny.
Totoro is going to take some time away from his busy schedule of clubbing, work and checking engadget to write a review of Hitch, starring our favorite Bad Boys star, Will Smith.

tv website feud!
Looks like the futon critic is mad at tvtome.com for repurposing their content without appropriate citation. Dude, plagiarism is bad!

Dean does the supernatural
The WB really wants to make Jared Padalecki into a star - he's signed on for a pilot with Jensen Ackles (Jason on Smallville, CJ on Dawson's Creek) on a pilot about two brothers who go around the country looking for supernatural events. Honestly, it doesn't even sound promising, but hey, the WB has surprised us before.

My Super Sweet 16
One of the perils of going on business trips is that you can't take the TiVo with you, and you end up watching (gasp) live TV. Unfortunately, I ended up watching MTV's show, My Super Sweet 16. It was like watching a train wreck and I couldn't tear myself away.
I saw the eposide with a girl named Natalie, who threw a $450,000 party at her dad's nightclub and invited 1,000 people. And at the end, there were a bunch of testimonials from party attendees, all claiming that the party had truly cemented Natalie's popularity. It was all so horrifying because of the sheer cost of the party, for a sixteen year old, in addition to reinforcing that spending a ridiculous amount of money on a party can make you popular. And the girl isn't exactly edited in the most favorable light, so in addition to being a somewhat shallow but probably vulnerable teenager, her vapidity will be immortalized and broadcast to the nation. Everyone is so awkward and impractical at that age; it just seems mean-spirited to exploit that for a TV show.
Reality TV show participants know (or should know) that they may be portrayed less than favorably, but I'm not sure if sheltered fifteen year olds know what they are signing up for.

JJ Abrams update
from tvtattle
Lost has gotten an order for an additional two episodes, so they will have 24 episodes for the season. I have to say that I wish we would see more development on the island's story line. I haven't found myself all that compelled by the castaway's back stories, except for Locke and Sun. The rest haven't seemed as surprising or interesting.
The JJ Abrams pilot is about bounty hunters is finally going into production. It was supposed to be produced last year, but I think it got derailed by the development of Lost and Abrams' increased involvement with Alias. Anyway, Greg Grunberg (Sean of Felicity, Weiss of Alias, the airplane pilot from Lost) will star.
P.S. Re: Arrested Development. La la, I can't hear you.

No, not Arrested Development!
Fox is trimming the season order for Arrested Development, in order to make room for American Dad. The bastards.

Charmed is moving timeslots
Charmed is moving to 7 pm for a month or so, which will resolve the scheduling conflict with Arrested Development for a month... But, in other news, Charmed's producer Brad Kern has a pilot with the WB about "a mermaid who attempts to live on dry land in Miami." Oh lordy.

FrIeNdStEr iS fUn.
Tragedy awaits you. Friendster now allows you to search by hometown so you can now find out what happened to those poor schlubs (or super pretty people) you went to high school with. Unfortunately, it also tells you the last time a person logged in so everyone else will know if you obsessively visit Friendster.

State of the Union
I was trying to figure out why there is no new Lost or Alias, this week; Alias in particular, since ABC said it would be running without repeats until the end of the season. Well, I had completely forgotten (or more honestly, was completely oblivious) that the State of the Union address is this Wednesday. I always thought it was in January, but I guess my grasp of when this speech happens is not as ingrained, as say, the first Tuesday in November is Election Day (I hope), or April 15 is Tax Day. Anyway, sadly, it's a bit of a blessing, as it means that I won't have as much TiVo backlog for this week and next.
