I didn't realize Michael Weatherly, formerly on Dark Angel, is now on NCIS. He was the tech dude in the wheelchair who was in love with Max (Jessica Alba), and was the main male lead. Too bad they didn't ask about his broken engagement to Jessica Alba in this interview. Although there's a hilarious section of this interview where Weatherly talks about how he's always trying to use hair as a way to communicate what the character is thinking...

The writer/producer guys from the Wire are now working on a project about soldiers in the Iraq war. Sounds interesting. I'll be looking forward to checking it out.

Watch Andy Richter's new show
You can watch the whole pilot of Andy Richter's new show. I have to say that Andy Richter Controls the Universe was a pretty funny show when it was on, although I never watched it regularly.

300
I've been pretty down on watching movies on the big screen for a while now, but one movie that has been on my radar for a long time is finally getting close to release (3/9), and initial reports are that it is going to be all it's cracked up to be. 300 is a movie based on Frank Miller's graphic novel of the same name, and is a dramatization of the Battle of Thermopylae. I assume both people who read this blog know about this movie already, but I've spoken to an alarming number of people recently who have never heard of it. So this is my rare entry to mark my excitement, and an image to boot.

Celeb sighting!
I was in LA for the weekend to visit my sister, and had the best celebrity sighting ever! Okay, maybe not best ever, but it was a sighting, and it involved multiple celebrities. It was less up close and personal than sitting next to Tom Welling and his wife at the sushi bar, but it was with better people! Anyway, we were having dinner and as we were getting dessert a huge party was coming into the same room we were in. Turns out it was a huge reservation with lots of stars! Including Marley Shelton (the lead in the movie about the four cheerleaders who rob a bank), the blond girl from Friday Night Lights (I don't want enough to recognize her), possibly Robin Tunney if she got a bob haircut, and the best, Lorelei herself (that's Lauren Graham). Woo! Sadly, my back was to their table so I couldn't ogle to my heart's content, so there's a chance there were even more people I would recognize, but sadly, my mother and sister do NOT watch enough TV to be very helpful in the celeb identification routine. The next question - should I submit my sighting to Defamer? Hmmm.

'24': A Day in the Life
A Day in the Life on the production of 24, but I should warn you that since production is ahead of what we've seen so far, this has spoilers of upcoming plot twists.

Fox summer shows
So You Think You Can Dance will be back on May 24th. I finally got sort of hooked on this show when I started fast-forwarding through dances that I thought were boring. Much like Dancing with the Stars, I think it takes me only a third of the actual show minutes to watch. And I guess The Loop is airing the summer? I really thought that show had been cancelled. Go figure.

Battlestar scoop
A Battlestar interview that says that we'll probably get a movie between season 3 and 4, and that David Eick is fairly confident that the Caprica pilot will move forward.

Now, I don't want to talk about the whole Britney meltdown thing because it just makes me sad and less hopeful about a) a teenybopper love reunion with Justin and b) an awesome new Britney album anytime in the near future, but something to consider - would Britney be a good partner on the Amazing Race? She's apparently now crazy, but lots of people seem to have crazy partners and they'd bring back the jetway for her.Certainly better recognizability than Rob and Amber, but perhaps more liability as well? Hmmm.
Also hilarious, is the part in this article where the pilot doesn't believe that Britney is actually trying to get on his flight.

The Amazing Race 11 Sequesterville video
The interview/clips of the first team elimated at the Sequesterville house has been posted. Obviously, a spoiler! But I'm excited to see the footage from the coming weeks so I won't feel as sad when a team gets eliminated. I might actually take some time to watch the extra clips posted online for this season.

Nick Lachey + Veronica Mars
I finally watched this week's episode of Veronica Mars, and I have to say that it was the best usage of Nick Lachey's song What's Left of Me. It made me laugh out loud.

Music and Lyrics
My faith in Music and Lyrics has been renewed with the thoroughly respectable (one might even say overwhelming) 65% it currently has on Rotten Tomatoes. In a remarkably long comment thread (for this blog at least), we've already been talking about this for a while, but I guess I'll be able to admit to wanting to watch this without overwhelming shame. Also, I'm very excited because I have Marie Antoinette from Netflix for this weekend and I loooooooooove Versailles!

Amazon Funds Fantasy Movies League
In a tip from Anonymous, Amazon funds a Fantasy Movies League. Totoro and I briefly tried the Hollywood Index movie stock market thing but quickly lost interest. However, the fantasy TV league has been pretty fun and engaging (I'm getting whupped this round), and the tomcat has gotten completely obsessed with it. So maybe this would be fun?

What Happens After the Amazing Race
There will be webisodes of Amazing Racers in sequesterville. I'm addicted to all things Amazing Race, but haven't found the time/motivation to watch all the stuff online for a while. But this might actually get me to watch since I'm sure some of my favorite teams may get booted early from this race.

Dundie
Apparently, John Mayer demanded a Dundie in return for allowing the Office to use his song Your Body is a Wonderland in the Christmas episode.

College basketball
The Sports Guy has finally started covering college basketball, which might be enough to get me interested to watch a few games before March Madness actually begins. Unfortunately, no commentary from the Sports Gal, but it sounds like NCAA basketball has been pretty entertaining. Sadly, I have so much backlog on my Tivo, that I'm not sure I have time to watch basketball... But I guess I'm probably not going to watch Friday Night Lights, or Knights of Prosperity or Heroes or My Name is Earl until this summer or later...

SNL guest
Dwight from the Office will be on SNL, which might be enough of an excuse to actually watch SNL.

Review of Music and Lyrics
Unfortunatley, it looks like this review of 'Music and Lyrics' isn't overwhelmingly positive. The first trailer I saw for this movie was pretty cute, but the second one was terrible. That's never a good sign. So, I guess I'll just wait for the DVD on this one. All the Februrary movies I was excited for have turned out to be a bust.

Unbox on TiVo
Of course, the big news for Tivo is the integration with Amazon's Unboxed service. So, when it gets rolled out, for instance, I could buy a missed episode of Studio 60 on Amazon and download it to my Tivo. I think I'd definitely spend the money rather than having to sit and watch it online on my computer...

Mandy Moore album
Mandy has an interview with People, where it mentions that her new album is coming out on May 8. Is it bad that I'm excited?

Nominated movies
If you have seen any of the nominees for Best Picture, apparently, you can see them all in one sitting on 2/24 at an AMC Theatre. I hope they plan in some bathroom breaks.

White Castle
You can have a Valentine's date at White Castle, including hostess seating, a server and candlelight, or you can sweep her off her feet with a take-out Cupid's Crave Pack, including burgers and a keepsake.

World Series of Pop Culture, round II
VH1 is doing a second round of the World Series of Pop Culture. It was pretty fun to watch although you could watch three quarters of it on fast forward, to skip the dramatic music and lighting while people introduced themselves and the witty banter of the host.

Fun with the Wii
The tomcat took pity on me and since I hadn't finished beating Elebits, he left the Wii with me. I'm keeping it busy, with some Elebitting and gecko has also been playing. I beat my level last night (only two left to go!) and gecko passed three levels as well. Roomie bonding over video games. Sigh. The DS Lite also got to stay with me, so I'm getting lots of game time in over the next couple weeks.

Catching up on 24
I had to watch 24 on myspace due to my TiVo hiccup, and it seemed to work pretty well. However, I have to admit that it was pretty embarassing to have to make a trip to myspace in order to see the episode. But it is pretty nice that although I had a Tivo mishap, I can catch up online.
