Apparently, Avril Lavigne co-wrote Breakaway, the Kelly Clarkson song. I wonder if she really co-wrote it or if some songwriter somewhere is swearing at her. Although I think she supposedly writes a number of songs, so it could be true...

yes, when i found out about the breakaway thing, i (1) was impressed that she could actually compose music; and (2) realized that the song sounds v. much like most of avril's ballads. have you heard her latest? i guess getting married at 21 can make a girl all sappy? ew
Her ballads are definitely reminiscent of Breakaway, so I can see it... Plus she had lots of songs about growing up in rural Canada on her first album. Sadly, I do kind of like her music although I think she's annoying. But I like the other stuff on her albums that is more poppy, since her singles are always punk-y.
