You can now dress like characters on Grey's Anatomy. I wish they'd do this for the OC (I love Summer's wardrobe) and Gilmore Girls (Lorelei's clothes!). Of course, it's kind of disturbing when you're getting both your music and your clothes from a tv show. It might be taking the television role model idolatry a little too far.

(via Socialite's Life)

A number of shows I watch ended up getting cancelled, so I cleaned off a bunch of season passes. Every summer I happily muse upon the fact that I have gotten X hours of my life back, but then fall rolls around and I get sucked into more shows. Sigh. But perhaps this fall I won't get trapped into the death spiral of television viewing that was eight years of Charmed. And I can only hope that this will be the year that I can break free from the mediocrity/terribleness of this past season of the OC and Gilmore Girls. I keep hoping they'll go back being sooo good, but it's probably too much to hope for.

On the other hand, I bought all of season 2 of Battlestar Gallactica and I love it! The iTunes video player is a bit funky, but it works. So perhaps this will be the new show that I tell everyone to watch. I'm also heading out on a transatlantic flight, so perhaps I'll have some reviews of truly crappy movies by the time I get home. I believe Casanova, Failure to Launch, and Last Holiday may be in my future!

You can now watch the BrilliantButCancelled broadband channel. I'm hoping to check out EZ Streets since I've heard a lot about it.

Instead of kids playing with dollhouses, they can now play with dioramas that depict scenes from Lost, as well as enjoying their Lost character action figures

Steve Jobs owns me

I continue to be a sucker for obviously contrived consumer products from Apple and associated cohorts. The latest one is Nike+iPod. I don't have an iPod Nano, so I'm not sure if this would work with my ancient clickwheel, but this is a very intriguing product. I never really know how far or fast I'm actually running, so if this will tell me that, and do it with a nifty interface, all the better.

You need a special shoe from Nike that can hold the sensor, and then the sensor+software package which is supposed to cost $29. I'm sure the initial data from such a thing would be deeply depressing, but this glorified pedometer is high up on my gadget desire list now.

On the heels of Stick It, there's a Bring it On-style movie about volleyball. However, I think it went straight to DVD. Not that that will stop me. Sigh. Why do I do this to myself?

You can see previews of all the new shows on CBS for next fall I'm not particularly interested in any of these; I'm intrigued by Smith, but two other shows from this past season with the same premise got axed, so I don't have great expectations on this show surviving.

Also, I've been using the Product Showcases feature on TiVo, which downloads ads onto your machine based on what you've opted in for. So I've chosen to see previews of TV and movies, and I'm actually really enjoying it, since I usually fast forward through ads so I miss out on those things.

There will be a Lost videogame

Cirque Du Soleil may strike again, but with Elvis music!

A spoof of the Grey's shower scene but with the male characters

So sad - they're selling off props from Arrested Development

Apparently Tyler, of BJ and Tyler on the Amazing Race tried to run a "campaign to get into to Stanford" in 2001. He was on campus with flyers and sandwich boards. He failed, but seriously seems like the type of kid Stanford takes a lot of.

A rundown of all the new shows for next season. I'm excited about Big Day because it's about weddings, though really, it might be horrible. And I think Runaway on the CW sounds terrible.

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

CBS's schedule. The Amazing Race moves to Sunday.

NBC will launch a broadband network as well as broadband channels that premiere up to four episodes of new series (NBCFirstlook.com, USAFirstlook.com, SciFiFirstlook.com, BravoFirstlook.com). (via tvtattle)

After much deliberation of what fantasy league to jump into, totoro and I decided to to the Hollywood Stock Exchange. Our usernames nyanko and totoro, so you can put us in your trading league if you want to join up! Email or post your username and we'll add you to our trading leagues! Maybe we'll think of some prizes!

So, I have a story about a friend (a real friend, not just a stand-in for me) who had an Netflix extra-DVD-stuffed-in-the-envelope incident. However, this is not a fun serendipidous incident, it is a hilarious to your friends incident. Or at least to your girlfriend. Anyhoo, this friend's initial excitement over the extra thick envelope and possible bonus movie quickly turned to horror when he read the following reviews about the movie he received, Child Bride.

The Netflix description: "Set in Appalachia, this shocking drama stars Shirley Mills as Jennie Colton, an underage girl railroaded into a union with odious hick Jake Bolby (Warner P. Richmond) … who's nearly three decades her senior. But Jennie's young beau, Freddie Nulty (Bob Bolinger) -- in league with an ostracized dwarf (Don Barrett) -- works to save her from a grim life. The film was proscribed in numerous places thanks to its topic and pointless child nudity. "

And one fabulous review: "Alright, first let me explain how I came across this movie. I'm a huge MST3K fan involved in a bad movie war. Two of the creators of MST3K in an interview talked about a movie that was so bad that they would not give its name. Using clues from the interview a friend of mine and I tracked this thing down and made the grave mistake of getting it. I can virtually guarantee that I am now on some FBI watch list. DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. It contains CHILD NUDITY. It doesn't matter if you're part of a bad movie club, or enjoy watching terrible films, this isn't the enjoyable, funny bad this is just plain wrong and evil. I love watching bad movies, but I wish I could go back 2 hours and never have seen this thing. Let me reiterate the main point here: THIS FILM CONTAINS CHILD NUDITY. THE FBI IS WATCHING. I STRONGLY, STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT, NO MATTER WHAT YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT THIS, YOU DO NOT RENT IT."

So, rumors that Everwood is dead as well as some mini-reviews of the clips of the shows that NBC picked up

Also, rumors that Veronica Mars has been picked up.

NBC's fall schedule is out.

An Andy Richter show got picked up for mid-season, the Office moves to 8:30 pm. Scrubs is not on the list, but there are rumors that will come back at midseason.

There's also a Hollywood Stock Exchange, which seems totally awesome. I'm pretty excited about this, the celebrity fantasy league and the television fantasy league. I could go from zero to three fantasy leagues in the blink of an eye. Let me know if any of you all are interested in joining these as well, since I'm competitive and I want to beat the pants off you. Or I think it will be more fun to have a little friendly rivalry. It's like March Madness, but about stuff I'm vaguely informed about, as opposed to completely clueless about.

Maybe this will teach me how to invest. Heh.

If only Rachel McAdams were more overexposed, then I could pick her in the celebrity fantasy league...

Prison Break and 24 will be delayed on Monday in the Eastern and Central time zones due to a presidential address. Adjust your recorders accordingly!

Image and summaries of the premises of four shows that Fox has already picked up. Kerr Smith and Victor Garber will be back on your TV next fall.

So the Defamer speculation that Lindsay Lohan is trying to make the wink her trademark pose is funny, but I find it even funnier that the picture actually used on the Just My Luck poster is actually from a paparazzi photo

I might also have to create a celebrity fantasy league.

Hmm, perhaps this would work for my television fantasy league. I was hoping for more show based, as opposed to characters, but maybe there aren't enough shows to run a league?

Apparently Totoro is too busy with fantasy baseball or "doing science" to blog, but I did enjoy the article he sent me about how funny it would be if there was an US Weekly Fantasy league. And seriously...I'd take that action. That, or a TV stars fantasy league, where you would get points when they get a pilot or the series gets renewed. Hmm, or maybe a TV show fantasy league, based on Nielsen ratings. That might be fun too! Totoro, can you set that up?

Click on the first link (TVGasm) to find out what 24 would feel like with different theme music... So funny. Okay, here's the direct link to the video.

Warner Brothers is going to be selling legal downloads of movies and TV shows via BitTorrent.

And even more shows hit the iTunes store, including the Shield and Buffy

There's going to be a Saturday morning kids show based on the game Dance Revolution. Maybe this will be fun for all you fans of DDR.

For Totoro - there might be a World of Warcraft movie.

Monday, May 08, 2006

There's going to be an Amazing Race book. I wonder if I can get it at the library...

Battlestar Galactica characters in the style of the Simpsons. Huh, that sentence doesn't make much sense, but you'll figure it out when you click on the link. (via tvtattle)

Sunday, May 07, 2006

The tomcat has been trying to persuade me for months that I should watch the latest incarnation of Battlestar Galactica. Thus far, I haven't been a huge fan of sci fi so I was interested, but not making any great effort to getting around to watching the miniseries that kicked off the series. Anyway, this weekend, (and since the tomcat finally gave in to my nagging and watched both Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls, so I figure I owe him) I finally got around to watching and I'm hooked. Woo! Season one is next on my queue.

All about the new Lost Experience game

CBS' broadband channel might show unaired pilots, as well as the unaired episodes of Love Monkey. Maybe we all watch, we can bring it back! Heh. Okay, no.

Thursday, May 04, 2006

Hey, Pam on the Office is married in real life to the brother of Kirk on Gilmore Girls.

Phil has a blog on the Amazing Race, with some little nuggets that I find quite entertaining - like that production has to find lots of hiding places for the start of the race because they have tons of cameras as well as a helicopter shooting, or that he has a little book of Polaroids of his wardrobe (seriously, someone goes through lots of trouble to pick out his outfits? You'd never guess).

VHI will have a new show about people throwing crazy and expensive weddings. (link via tvattle)

I guess a broadband channel is just a website with streaming video since CBS has launched their broadband channel. It has original shows, I think, as well as the video content for primetime CBS shows. (link via tvtattle)

An interview with two of the writers on Lost about the events in last night's episode. Obviously, spoilers.

Wednesday, May 03, 2006

I've been watching the episodes of Love Monkey that are being aired on VH1, and I have to say that Judy Greer may be my new actress crush. In the past, she always played psycho women, but in the show, she's so cute. I mean, she's Rachel McAdams cute. Unfortunately for me, this may mean a whole new set of bad movies that I will want to see just for her.

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

Just like the show, this article about MTV's My Super Sweet 16 is like a train wreck - you don't want to watch, but you can't look away.
