He has statistics to back it up, and it's surprising to see how consistent it is across both networks and seasons.

Wow, that is pretty interesting. I also found it interesting that this confirms my suspicion that Fox has the finest trigger for canceling shows (lowest percentage of shows renewed among the big 4 networks). It's also notable that CBS, despite their crap lineup, was well above the mean on shows renewed.
